It’s summer time and it’s hotter than ever. Sunscreen and tanning lotions are a must, but sometimes life gets in the way. Here are a couple tips for surviving the brutal summer sun when you’ve forgotten to protect your skin.
First and foremost, a cold compress applied to the sunburned area is a great way to soothe and rehydrate your skin. Drink plenty of water while you’re at it.
While you are sunburned, stay out of the sun! If you have to go outside, wear a hat and some lightweight clothing. Your damaged skin won’t heal if it’s exposed to even more sun over an extended time.
Lotions fortified with Aloe Vera can cool and hydrate the skin, temporarily soothing any pain while helping your body repair the damage.
Lastly, taking some over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or Aspirin can help prevent the pain from sunburned skin.
